The etiology of this conundrum was buried with SARAH AND ABRAHAM in their GRAVES. This was a domenstic problem not properly handled by the head of the family(ABRAHAM) and has turned to a perennial issue and both United States and United Nations do not know how to handle it. For the student of history, “expansionism” events and activities are as old as the earth and probably older than the earth if there is heaven. Now back to our main debate. If your biological father kicked you and your mother out of the house to please his first wife or the wife of the house due to no fault of yours, would you forgive him and his wife?
The question of legitimate and illegitimate should not arise, if the wife of the house encouraged her husband to sleep with her maidservant resulting to the birth of ISHMAEL. There is an ADAGE in an African culture which states that ” if the KING sleeps with a young lady multiple times or get married to her he looses respect.” She will cause you out when she is mad. What was Sarah thinking? ‘Sleep with the Slave, make us a baby and ask her to Shut up’.
Heck no! Every human with blood circulating in their body likes good life period. At the times of turbulence in a family, the head must “manned up” and put some sense of direction, purpose and calmness but Abraham from what I have read so far did not do that. What if Hagar and Ismael were devoured in the desert by a wild beast? Ismael somehow made it to a grown man and passed on the underserved punishment  him and his mother received from Abraham and Sarah to his children…….and a SEED of HATRED was planted. Do you believe in DREAMS? How truthful were the dreams credited to Abraham and Sarah? Was God really involved in this story that sounds like tribal/ethnic story? If Abraham and Sarah had a slave called Hagar, why would God still promise Him(ABRAHAM) the land of Canaan? Did GOD approved of his servant keeping a fellow human being as a slave? This whole thing is convoluted and I would like to call on scholars and researchers to X-ray the Ahraham and Sarah’s story with emphasis on Hagar and her son Ishmeal? Your opinions?
