The office of the President is an elected office and we have laws in place to handle unforeseen circumstances resulting to partial or full incapacitation of the president. The First Lady’s office is ceremonial and if she dies while her husband is still the president then her ceremonial assignment would suffer some setback. Most First Ladies have projects and dreams to fulfil (Hunger Free world, Healthy living, Homelessness etc.). If the question is referring to the replacement of the First Lady when she dies, I would say it is a personal decision by the president to remarry as there is no law in place to stop him. I am sure the president would wait for his term to come to an end before remarrying. It is just an ethical thing to do.
