It is an obvious fact that the media is driving the cost of democracy out of control. Be it third world, developing or developed nation, the cost of democratic election is huge and the politicians do not have a choice but to accepts money from miscreants and bullies. This results in remote control of the government by certified criminals. Why is congress not doing anything about it? Do we really need more than two or three advertisements to win an election? Why is the media pouring gasoline into the election system, to make money?
Should politicians ban big political advertisements? Should more town hall meetings be conducted to save money and to get the message to the grass root? If laws are created to stop too many advertisements and keep big donors away, would democracy reflects its true definition? Your thoughts? Welcome to http://www.provocativedebate.com.
